FLOODING ALERT SYSTEM

Aim

The aim of the project is to alert us automatically during flooding.

Problem statement

Loss of lives and property: Immediate impacts of flooding include loss of human life, damage to property, destruction of crops, loss of livestock, non-functioning of infrastructure facilities and deterioration of health condition owing to waterborne diseases. The purpose of this project is to sense the water level in river beds and check if they are in normal condition. If they reach beyond the limit, then it alerts people through LED signals and buzzer sound

Material used

Input: Water level Sensor
Brain: TinkerSpace Brain Board
Output: Buzzer
Battery: Lithium-ion rechargeable battery

Component description
WATER LEVEL SENSOR

The function of water level sensor is to detect the level of water and send the signal to the Brain unit (TinkerSpace board).

BUZZER

The function of the buzzer is to serve as an audible alert when the water level increases.

TinkerSpace Brain Board

TinkerSpace board acts as brain of this project, its function is to monitor Water level Sensor and control the Buzzer.

Battery

5V Lithium-Ion battery is used to power-up this project

Working description

Case – 1: During flooding, the water level sensor (input) turns ON by sensing the high water-level and sends signal 1 to the TinkerSpace sensor board (brain). The sensor board turns ON the buzzer (output).

Case – 2: When it does not flood, the water level sensor does not sense the high water-level. Hence the sensor board turns OFF the buzzer.

Water level sensor ON —> Buzzer ON
Water level sensor OFF —> Buzzer OFF

Circuit Design (DesignSpace)

Step 1: Open TCode App -> Create New project -> Open DesignSpace

Step 2: Connect the Water level sensor  to INPUT 2 of the Brain board.

Step 3: Connect Buzzer to Output 1 of the Brain Board.

Step 4: Connect supply and test project.
